Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to reclad my home?

While every project is unique in its size and complexity, most home reclads will take between 6 and 12 weeks to complete.

Do I have to move out of my home during the recladding process?

This is entirely dependent on the extent of the job. For a full home reclad, the property will have all of its cladding, insulation, and windows removed. Coupled with the fact that the work is noisy, and can last for an extensive amount of time, this is not conducive to a comfortable living environment. Due to this we recommend vacating the property before the work begins.

With that being said, the situation may differ from project to project. We can discuss your options when you have your initial consultation, and figure out a solution that best fits your project.

Do I need building consent if I am recladding my home?

Yes, you need building consent to begin your recladding project. If you fail to do so, the council will send you a stop-work order, and you’ll need to get the necessary consent to continue the work. When you work with Renovation Works, we make sure to dot all our i’s and cross all our t’s so you won’t have to worry about any disruptions to your recladding project.

How much will it cost to reclad my home?

The cost to reclad your home will differ from project to project. The scale and complexity of the job will inform the overall cost. Refer to our What is the cost to reclad a home page for more information on some of the factors, or book a free assessment with us today so we can shed some light on how much your unique home recladding project may cost.

What is the process of recladding my home?

After you’ve had your assessment with the Renovation Works team, we create a budget, plans, and a timeline for your recladding project. After this has been approved, we can begin to work.

Our first task is protecting your home from the elements. We erect scaffolding around your home that allows builders access to the site, but keeps the weather out.

Next, we remove your home’s cladding. Depending on the project, this is sometimes all at once and at other times will be done in sections. From here we canassess if there’s any more decaying timber framing or joinery. We dispose of all the materials that need to be replaced off-site.

Finally, we begin the process of repairing the framework and recladding your home. This is by far the most complex and time-consuming part of recladding your home. We take tremendous care in ensuring that it is done to a high standard, with no weathertightness issues, so that you can enjoy your new, warm, dry recladded home.

Are there benefits in recladding my whole home rather than just a targeted reclad?

• A full reclad can reestablish the full value of your property, and at times even increase it.

• It allows your home to be brought up to the current Building Code E2/AS1 requirements.

• Once you have completed a full recladding project under a new Building Consent, you will be issued a new Code Compliance Certificate in respect to the building repair work

•A full reclad is the most sure-fire way of futureproofing your home from any issues later on, saving you from having to repeat the entire recladding process if additional problems arise.

This is why it is often in your favour to perform a full home reclad rather than a targeted reclad.
